Guided by enthusiastic teachers, the children venture beyond the classroom to visit various places of worship scattered across their city. Their adventure begins with a trip to a nearby temple, where they marvel at the intricate carvings and vibrant statues depicting Hindu deities. They learn about the significance of rituals like lighting diyas and offering prayers, fostering an appreciation for Hindu traditions.
Next on their itinerary is a visit to a mosque, where they observe Muslims engaged in prayer. The serene atmosphere and the melodious call of the azan captivate their senses, prompting curious questions about Islamic customs and beliefs. Through interactive sessions with the imam, they gain insights into the principles of Islam and the importance of community in worship.
The final stop on their journey is a gurudwara, where the aroma of langar welcomes them warmly. Here, they witness the principles of equality and selfless service in action as they partake in communal meals alongside Sikh families. They listen to stories from Sikh scriptures and learn about the importance of seva, or selfless service, in the Sikh faith.
Back at school, the first graders eagerly share their experiences through drawings and stories, reflecting on how their perceptions of different religions have evolved.
